MCM College: MCMC delighted to host Open Rehearsal of UM/SFA Friendly Quartet
MCMC was delighted to host the Open Rehearsal of University of Macau & Stephen F Austin University Texas Friendly Quartet Concert in MCM College Hall Friday 18 March 2016.
Maestro Dr Gene Moon, Director of Orchestras, SFA University Texas, working closely with Maestro Mr John Ma, Conductor, UM String Orchestra, ably led Faculty and students to an enhanced level of understanding of the String Quartet as a musical medium, its repertoire, and conducting, leadership and musical direction.
Most commendable playing by UM musicians, Candy Chen on 1st Violin and Mandy Mak on 2nd Violin, was wonderfully complemented by guest SFA musicians Preston Patterson playing Viola and Manab Naskar playing ‘Cello, performing excerpts in demonstration from their forthcoming concert that evening in the Theatre of the UM Student Activities Centre.
The concert featured music specifically composed for String Quartet by Mozart, Puccini and Dvořák, played to a capacity audience.
Everyone hoped for more international collaboration of this high calibre in the future.
