Moon Chun Memorial College’s 2nd High Table Dinner - 2013/14
Moon Chun Memorial College’s 2nd High Table Dinner of the second semester of 2013/14 was successfully held in the Clube Militar de Macau-Military Club of Macau on 21 May.The College was honoured to have Ms. Rita Hämmerli-Weschke, Consul General of Switzerland and Dr. Ambrose So, Chief Executive Officer, SJM Holdings Limited & President of Clube Militar de Macau, as speakers. Ms. Hämmerli-Weschke began with an overview of the history and connections which exist between Switzerland, Hong Kong and Macau, while Dr. So gave a compelling account of the background and narrative of the Military Club.
Dr. Ray Cheung, MCM College Resident Fellow, together with College Members, gave the premiére performance of “Send me a Rose,” a veritable fusion of Chinese music with a Tango rhythmic drive.
Music for the MCMC quintet was arranged by Eddy Tse, a former Academy student of the Master. MCMC quintet comprised 2 violins, erhu, pipa and sanxian.
High Table culminated with Presentation of Prizes to students. Ms. Hämmerli-Weschke, M. Jeremy Artan de Saint Martin, Managing Director of iExcel, and M. Franklin Willemyns, CEO of Compania de Electricidade de Macau (CEM), awarded certificates to students who had given dedicated service to the College throughout the year. The Master, Fellows and College Members complimented Dr Ambrose So on his elevation to Comendador da Ordem do Merito da Republica Portguesa, awarded by the Portuguese President in Macau the previous week, and MCM College student Tan Hong Wei, Winston, on his Outstanding Representative Award in the European Union Macau Model European Summit.
